About Heidi

Heidi is 2 years old. Current on rabies vaccination, but will need her other yearly's this month. She knows basic command, sit, lay, back, in. We purchased Heidi from a breeder in Louisiana, when she was a year old. We thought we were getting a pet quality dog, turns out we were lied to. Should of known from the look of the place. She had apparently never been out of her concrete kennel, she was afraid to walk on grass, was afraid of cars, people, and other animals. We mastered several of those issues. She however has not gotten over her dominance in relation to other animals. She has always tried to attack our 3 small dogs. She does ok if you are watching her every second constantly telling her no, but as soon as you turn around she causes trouble. She ended up attacking our male rat terrier, causing us a great deal of heartache and money. We have 4 small children and we just feel we can no longer trust her around them. She will chase children and bite at their ankles. Not in a mean way, seems like she's playing. We regularly fostered dogs and have not been able to with her issues. I don't want to leave her tied in the backyard or kenneled, due to the issues were having, every animal deserves more than that. She would more than likely have to be in a one dog household. Not sure how she does with bigger dogs. We did foster one older dog, while she was with us. We never let them around each other, because neither would stop barking or growling. She is a good dog, when she is by herself. She'll help you with yard work (loves to carry sticks/branches with you), loves to fetch balls, loves to sit with you on the couch. She's just not good with small animals (tried to eat a chicken, luckily I was close by). We are hoping to find her a good home and are not willing to give her to just anyone. Don't want her to end up in the same situation she was in when we got her.
