My daughter recently befriended a cat whom I now realize was abandoned by a previous neighbor (this is what I am told - that the cat was a house cat and this person moved and left the cat to the streets). The cat survived Hurricane Harvey and still lives in my neighborhood. She is very, very sweet and good with children. I have a toddler who often is not gentle and the cat remains sweet, never biting or scratching. She does not appear to enjoy being outside and often tries to come in our home. We cannot keep her as we have two dogs. She's been on the street for at least 6 weeks (maybe longer and I hadn't realized). Note that there is not an adoption fee to keep this animal however a routine health maintenance visit by a vet is absolutely required. She appears very healthy but is likely not up to date on shots and we do not know when she last saw a vet. Please know that vet check ups can be expensive and thus we want only those who are financially capable and responsible to adopt this kitty. We feed the cat but otherwise are not financially responsible for her.
