YES, I'M AVAILABLE! Adoption application at www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APP before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thanks for your cooperation. Kenny is a spunky 3 year old Cairn terrier mix who was rescued from a high kill shelter in California where he was out of time and in danger of being euthanized because he was seriously ill with pneumonia. We stepped in to get this little guy the medical treatment he so desperately needed and he spent several weeks at the vet. Some days we truly did not know if he was going to make it, so we're beyond thrilled that he is now a healthy happy boy. Kenny was not a happy camper at the vet and was snappy with the staff. He had enough of being poked and prodded, he really wasn't feeling well, and he was under a lot of stress from having spent time in a crowded shelter. We weren't sure if he was an aggressive dog or if he just had that sassy terrier attitude we know so well, so we sent him to a trainer who we've had great success working with. When Kenny was well enough to leave the vet, he spent six weeks with the trainer in California. He is doing great in his foster home and has been on his very best behavior, but we still recommend that he goes to a home with no children. Kenny is looking for a very special forever family with a dominant pack leader who is willing to work with him on training, preferably with terrier experience. He weighs 9-10 pounds, is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and is heart worm negative. He gets along great with other dogs. We haven't had him around cats yet, so we're not sure what he thinks of them. All of our rescue dogs will need work on house and obedience training. Kenny has been through so much! Could you be the loving forever family he deserves? Kenny has an adoption fee of $500. **IMPORTANT DETAILS - PLEASE READ** An application must be filled out before consideration for adoption. Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to commit a lifetime to him/her. We are an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit group of animal lovers. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable as we need these funds to pay our current medical bills for our dogs as well as any future dogs we rescue as well. As an adopter, you must be prepared to accept the fact that these dogs are rescues and, just like you and I, they all have their own individual personalities. In most cases, these little ones have been through a difficult journey that started when their family gave them up or they became lost. They may have been under stress, neglected or even abused in their past life or frightened by being left alone on the streets to fend for themselves. Our number one focus is finding these little loves a wonderful forever home with a family who is going to care for them and show them what it is like to be loved, a safe environment, a full belly and a warm bed. These sweet babies do not ask for much from you but they may require a little patience and understanding. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, WE ARE AN ALL VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to come look at a dog We will contact you once we have received and reviewed your completed application. A Home visit as well as a reference check MUST be completed before a meet & greet can be scheduled. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
