About Murphy

Murphy has been a part of our family since May of 2013. He was an Anniversary present from my husband and we decided we wanted to find a puppy that needed a home. We brought him home from the Greenville Humane Society at just a few weeks old. He was labeled as Schnauzer/Poodle mix but as you can see, I don't believe he is either. We're really not sure what he is and he gets attention every where he goes for that. Murphy was my baby until July of 2015 when I had my actual firstborn baby. Now we have another on the way coming in February. While we love Murphy very much, we cannot provide him the space or attention he needs. He is a very high energy dog. I've never seen a dog run so fast as he does after a tennis ball. The problem is, we live on (1 acre of land with no fence. We have tried and tried to give him the exercise he needs but now with a toddler, two full time jobs, and another baby on the way, we lack the time. When Murphy is properly exercised, he is so much calmer inside. He is also very needy of attention which I wish I could give like I used to, but my two year doesn't make that easy. Murphy is also protective, mainly of me. Anyone that comes on the property, unless it's someone he knows, he puts on his 'territorial' face and bark. He has never bit or even come close to biting anyone but his bark definitely sounds like a tough guy. Once he has warmed up to someone, which doesn't take too long and usually involves a tennis ball, he won't leave them alone with attention. When we're not on our property, he doesn't bark at anyone but rather is very, very shy. Again, after time he warms up. I love Murphy very much and that's part of the reason I want to find a better place for him. Let me be clear - We are in no rush or hurry to get rid of him. If I can't find the right home, then he will stay with us. He does well with other animals. He's been around cats and dogs. He is current on all vaccinations (documentation can be provided) and has been fed quality food from the very beginning. More pictures and information available upon request, too.
