Champ is a very good-natured guy. His demeanor is calm and gentle and he always seems to have a smile on his face. He appears to be lower energy, not really being very interested in playing with toys. Treats however are another story! He enjoys exploring outside and sniffing out great scents. He is probably middle-aged. He was adopted once but was returned several months later, the father saying that he bit him when taking him out of his crate and that his daughter was also nipped once while petting him. Because of this, Champ will only be adopted to an 'experienced' adopter and adoption must be approved by our animal control officer, Ann Mills. If you come to meet this guy, you will find it totally unbelievable that this dog would snap at anyone. All of the volunteers are questioning this story. He is so gentle and easy going, he deserves another chance with a loving owner. Adopter must also sign a 'Hold Harmless' Agreement that acknowledges Champ's history and adopter agrees that they will not hold the shelter liable if another incident occurs. Champ is working hard to keep his attitude upbeat and is always quiet and with a hopefully look on his face, but we can tell he really misses being in a home. Out in the play yard sometimes he will sit next to us and let his guard down and lean in and really enjoy being petted and loved. You can visit Champ at the Euclid Animal Shelter, 25100 Lakeland Blvd., Euclid, OH. The shelter is open Tues. through Sat. from noon to 4 p.m., plus 6 - 8pm on Thursday. He is current on vaccinations and neutered. All of these vet costs are included in the $80 adoption fee! We do not test our animals with other cats or dogs. You are welcome to bring your dog to the shelter for a 'Meet and Greet' in one of our outdoor play yards. One of our experienced volunteers will assist you.
