Max came into the shelter around 1 year ago at around 1 1/2 years of age. He was fearful when he arrived and the staff person who eventually adopted him, took him home as a foster to work with him on his issues. He did well with her and her family (including 3 children, ages 8 -15) and another large breed adult dog but has continued to show some degree of fear of strangers. He does not like people he doesn't know getting close to his face, going near his food or his bones.. Unfortunately, Max' adopter is being treated for relapsed cancer with a very poor prognosis. She is very ill and just can't continue to manage Max and is trying to make decisions on many many things. Max is healthy, neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Max is currently in Virginia. Transport is available. He will need time and someone who is able and willing to continue to help him face the world but he is loving and fun when he feels secure. Max needs you!
