About MIKEY

PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO READ MIKEY'S ENTIRE BIO TO HELP DETERMINE IF HE MIGHT BE THE RIGHT MATCH FOR YOUR FAMILY. Mikey is a strikingly handsome 7-8 yr. old 15 lb. lady's man over flowing with charm, so ladies if you are ready to be swept off your feet, then Mikey is the man for you! Our suave little guy insists on sleeping in the big bed at night, and promises to keep you snuggly warm during those long cold winter nights ahead! He is looking for an adult female only home as he is frightened of men, older boys, and young children. Mikey is 98% house trained and gets along with other dogs, but of course prefers the company of females. He loves playing with soft squeaky toys, and hanging out in the backyard with his foster mom. Indoors he is her constant shadow, and interested in everything she says and does. Mikey is very protective of his surroundings which makes him a barker if he hears noises or people outside the home, so apartment, condo, or attached living would not be suitable for him. However this trait makes him perfect for a woman living alone in a detached home because Mikey will alert if strangers are nearby. Our sweet boy came to us from a horrific life in a Mississippi puppy mill in February of 2016 along with Kiko and the mother-daughter duo of Trixie & Lexi (also available for adoption). It has taken lots of time and patience for the 4 of them to adjust to life outside the mill, but each of them are progressing nicely, and are finally ready to begin their new lives with some very lucky families. Despite being a very sweet loving little boy, Mikey will require a very patient calm household with a lady willing to help him over come his fear of loud noises, trash trucks, and his tendency to bolt and run when frightened. He is a very adept escape artist and jumper/climber who can easily leap over a 42 inch indoor gate or climb chain length fencing, so he will require a home with secure 6 foot privacy fencing and an escape barrier at any doors leading outside. Mikey is neutered, up to date on vaccinations. had a recent dental, is heart worm negative, on monthly heart worm preventative and micro chipped. Due to his issues, we want to keep Mikey within a short driving distance of his foster home. We know this means it may take longer to find his forever family, but we feel it is best for Mikey.
