About Sophia

I am writing this email in regards to an amazing, loving, playful and beautiful german shepherd named Sophia. Sophia was rescued by myself after she was abandoned at a local dog park. That day Several kindhearted dog owners spent over 9 hours trying to capture the frightened dog to no avail. I walked into the park and she hesitantly crawled over to me and sat on my feet. At 2.5 years old, she still possessed the clumsiness of a puppy that could only have resulted from being neglected and caged for the entirety of her life and with a fear greater than I had ever witnessed in an animal, a fear that only years of extensive and severe abuse could create. I was not able to bring her to my home because one of my rescue dogs is dog aggressive. So I took her to my boyfriend at the times house. After a bit of time she took to him. We split up shortly there after and he kept Sophia. Then out of the blue I received a call from him claiming that Sophia had bit a person after jumping out the window of the trailer where her and her newborn puppies were staying. This was very upsetting to me because I had left him money and vouchers for Sophia and his male dog to be spayed, neutered and vaccinated, none of which he had done. Sophia was placed into quarantine and given a death sentence with a date for her euthanasia, not only because of the incident but because of false information on behalf of the idiot owner at the time. But after a heroic and not so legal group effort, I was able to rescue her, again. I spent great sums of money and time trying to secure my home, hiring a trainer and caring for her. All of these things were to no avail, and after hundreds of emails and phone calls pleading for some kind of help, the only advice and help received was to euthanize this poor animal. With nearly all hope lost, Sophia and I were nearly at the end. Then I met Ralf, owner and lead trainer of Happy Dog Training, who became Sophia's only and last chance of survival, her God sent savior and her present trainer. He is Sophia's guardian angel sent from above. Nearly eight months since Sophia and I's first encounter at the dog park, and after two near death experiences and rescues, countless trials and tribulations, more tears of hopelessness and joy than I can count, thousands of dollars in rehabilitation needs, and now the triumph of becoming a rehabilitated and the most amazing dog I have ever been so blessed to meet, Sophia has overcome all her fears and any fear based aggressive behaviors, and is ready to be adopted. Sophia comes to her new home full of love, loyalty and energy. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, and with a clean bill of health.
