About Mormont

My name is Mormont, and if you are looking for a steady, dependable, senior American Bulldog guy, look no further. I'm 7 years old and have the wisdom and the calmness you are looking for. I don't get rowdy, I only show love. I'm totally into long walks, or sitting on the couch at your side. I have a few medical issues, but nothing that time and love can't heal. I'm heartworm positive, but almost finished with my treatment, and will be anxious to see if I'm negative in a few weeks! I weigh around 50 pounds, so won't crush a couch to spend the rest of my days on. I like the girl dogs, but boys can be a bit too much for me. If you can give me the home I'm looking for, please let my caregivers know. They are anxious to find me a new life outside of the shelter. Mormont is our senior guy at the moment, and like his Game of Thrones name sake, he is is quickly becoming the commander of our hearts! He will be safely cared for by the vols and staff at our shelter until adoption or rescue. This old guy is estimated to be 7-8 years old by the vet, and he is heartworm positive and had a tumor which was removed when he was neutered. He is on antibiotics for the next 30 days and has been started on a slow kill heartworm method. He tested positive for erlichia also which the antibiotics are treating too. His meds will go with him at no charge. He weighs 50 pounds and is microchipped also. 11-13-17 He had a place come up on his leg, and when taken to the vet it was found to be a Sequestrum which is a bone fragment broken off as a result of his osteoarthritis. We have him on some heavy duty antibiotics twice daily to help with infection but the vet says it will require a future surgery estimated at $350-400 to correct and even then there is no guarantee it will not re-occur. We are desperately seeking a rescue to take on this boy and we will help fundraise for his surgery and aftercare. The current adoption fee is $75 which includes the dogs spay or neuter and Rabies vaccination at a local vet, and covers the distemper/parvo vaccine and bordetella vaccine and dewormings it receives here at our shelter. No dog will leave the shelter to an adopter without being vetted first. By TN state law stray dogs are held for 3 days so they can be found by their owners before being put up for adoption or rescue. A dog found as a stray wearing a collar is held for 5 days before it is put up for adoption or rescue. Our shelter is a first come first adopt/rescue facility.There are no holds placed on dogs for potential adopters/rescue, however if a party is interested in a particular dog before it becomes available they may send an inquiry to [email protected] and those inquiries will be kept track of in order of received once dog becomes available. Adopters/rescues will be notified what order they are in in regards to each dog. They are available at 8am on the day they are available. Non vetted dogs will have an appointment scheduled and will be available for pickup for adoption the day after their surgery. Approved rescues may pull a dog and have vetted at their own expense once available to the public.
