About Marie & Jack

Jack(white and brown) and Marie( brown) must be adopted together no exceptions. If you have no intentions of adopting both do not bother to apply. Jack and Marie came to us after we got a call from a local asking for help. Someone had dumped 22 chihs at the dirt race track near her home. Our guess they came from a back yard breeder. Since the location is some what isolated they abandoned them there. The problem was that none of them had been handled and non were used to people. Animal control said the only option they had was to come out and shoot them all. In our county the shelter is very tiny. Maybe 10 kennels in all. In order to bring part of the abandoned dogs on they would have had to kill all the dogs at the shelter. So they allowed our rescue to step in and help. Over a period of 1 month we successfully trapped and removed all the dogs from the location. We were able to transfer 5 of the dogs to other rescues, but not many rescues were willing to help feral dogs that were not used to humans. So, we took the other 17 dogs in ourselves. We socialized them, got them vetted and spayed and neutered. We found all them homes expect Jack and Marie and Elliot. Elliot is the only adult that we could not tame all the way. He lives with us. Jack and Marie was the first of the group that we caught. They were tiny little babies at that time, We had intended on keeping them as personal pets but we have so many that can not be adopted it is not fair to keep them.. Jack and Marie deserve their own home TOGETHER, Jack is the smaller of the 2. He weighs about 7 pounds. Marie is around 12 pounds. She is a tad on the over weight side and could stand to lose some weight. However they are small dogs. They are not the climb in your lap type dogs. They are ok doing their own thing. However if you pick them up they are ok with that and will tolerate it. They are not overly affectionate either. Like I said they are happy just doing their own thing. They are great with other dogs and are good with cats. They will go to a home with no small kids. They are both fixed, current on all vaccines, on heartworm prevention and microchipped.
