About Cinch

Border Collie
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

True working dog Date into Rescue: 09/08/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release- owner doesn't want Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: About 40 lbs Height: About 22' at shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Cinch is an active working dog who has never had the opportunity to be the dog he was meant to be and do the work he was meant to do. He was purchased as part of a breeder pair by someone breeding smaller dogs who did not realize how much border collies need. His life before the farm was a 10 x 10 chain link run with dirt on the ground. And not much else. Now that he's running the fields at Dreamweaver farms, he's beyond happy. What is my personality like? Cinch longs for a job .He wants a job. He has the inate intelligence and drive of the border collie but no outlet for it. He looks at us and says 'teach me,' 'mold me,' 'train me.' He wants a person and a purpose. He gives hugs and loves to rub on his caregivers. How do I act when I first meet new people? Cinch is jumpy on people but it's all in a good way .He wants your attention. He needs to be taught so many things and the first is how to properly greet people. He will be a fabulous partner dog once he learns some manners. And did I mention he's eager to learn? More tips and tidbits: Cinch is in a run with his sister Addy. He will hike his leg and pee outside the run but not in it. He has never pooped in his run. We think he'll housetrain easily. We've not started crate training yet as he's got so much pent up energy we felt he was better off in a run instead of a crate. He's so eager to please we think he'll pick up the house training skill quickly. Cinch also needs leash training. He's a blank slate. We don't think Cinch would do well with children under 10 . We're looking for an adult only home or one with older dogs. We're looking for an adopter who has land and experience with this breed. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Birth date 2/28/2013

Cherokee County
South Carolina
