Luna is a 3 year old Great Dane we pulled from a NC shelter in January. Luna was marked for 'rescue only' at the shelter because of aggression. Like many dogs that suddenly end up in a shelter in a split second, Luna was not handling the stress of shelter life very well. She was loosing weight and seriously unhappy. We kept a close eye on her Facebook post, hoping a rescue near her would come to her aid. But for one reason or another that didn't happen for Luna. We knew we just couldn't leave her there and we needed to see who she truly was outside of that environment. Luna was a bit of a mess medically- weight loss, sores, lumps, infections, and enlarged spleen. But luckily, nothing major and she's been nursed by her foster family back to perfect health! Luna is now Spayed and fully vetted. We had her eyes checked out but there is no surgical fix for them, its just the way she is. She quickly became a volunteer favorite and remains that way. Behaviorally, we are still working with her and will continue to do so! She is a super sweet girl who can be misunderstood at times. And while she's not quite ready for adoption just yet, we do have some ideas for her perfect forever family.....Luna will need an experienced Great Dane owner- she's a big girl and needs someone who can handle her. A fenced in yard is a must. No children are in this girls future. She's dog selective so a meet & greet is a firm must. She is fine with cats.
