About Eclectus

We have abeautiful ecletus parrot we are looking to re home. We have enjoyed both of his company very much, but have with much thought, time, and due to personal medical conditions, and change in our work, decided to find their next forever home(s). The male is an 11 years old, named Loki. He is sweet, inquisitive and playful. He is very treat motivated and could learn more than we have taught with a more time and instruction. He does know a few words, and says hello often, but tends to mimic and make funny sounds more than anything else. Laser beams, cat meow, crow, and other goofy animal noises. We adopted Loki as a rescue. He likely was smuggled into the states to Hawaii, and his early years are not known. But he has flourished with care and nutrition. With that in mind, he can be susceptible to plucking (as was the case when we adopted him) if not cared for correctly, ie showers or spraying & diet. We are looking for EXPERIENCED or KNOWLEDGEABLE owner(s) who knows and have had practice with bird care or is well educated and aware of this species and its quirks and needs. Eclectus parrots are different than Amazon species and other parrot breeds in both specific diet and care. This is NOT a beginner bird and as with any parrot adoption should be well considered. If you are an experienced bird person, you'll understand the process needed to find the right fit for these amazing creatures. These parrots do love attention, showers, treats, can learn with training, love to be a part of the flock and make great companions.
