*** URGENT: SPECIAL FOSTER NEEDED FOR A SPECIAL CAT! *** Safe Place for Pets is looking for a special foster, one who knows and understands cat behavior (especially calico cats!), to foster a very sweet and young calico girl (spayed, with claws) who occasionally has some bad behavior when things 'surprise' her (no small children for her) or she wants her way instead of yours (like moving from a place where she is lying, so you can go to bed). This kitty is very sweet and loving with people (99% of the time) and loves attention. She does well in the company of a dog (unknown how she would do with multiple dogs), but she and the Safe Place team have learned that other cats are absolutely not acceptable! Hence, she is not candidate to board at our Welcome Center with the other cats in our program. I am making great progress on improving my behavior to let the sweet, loving and lovable girl underneath all my bluster shine through. Right now, I am staying at Colorado Cats, where Miss Carole is using a variety of behavior modification techniques to help me learn to not be so reactive to activities around me. I have made great progress and love being in my catio to enjoy the fresh air and watch the woodland critters come and go. I have even mellowed to the point of not even caring about the cats in their condos next door-that is major progress, since I cannot tolerate another cat even being close by. I enjoy the company of a dog, though, and did well with my prior foster mom's Labrador. My stay at Colorado Cats will be ending next week (5/11/18), so I need a very special foster home soon. If you would like to give me a try at your home, I will do my very best to show you the awesome cat that I truly am, underneath my occasional blustery 'cattitude'! My name is Cece and I am a new arrival at the Safe Place for Pets Welcome Center, where cats who have lost their families to terminal illness live until new families adopt them. As you can see from my pictures, I am finding my new temporary home to be very comfortable, but I know that I will like a new furever home and family even more! Perhaps once you read about me, you will come by to visit. Let me know you will be stopping by and I will brew a pot of coffee for us to enjoy! Sadly, I lost my mom not too long ago to a terminal illness. She adopted me as a young kitten, but honestly, I think I still am a youngster since I won't be 2 years old until my birthday in November. I am a very pretty, calico girl, who is spayed and indoor-only. Besides my mom, I lived with a cockapoo and a kitty brother, and I enjoyed their company very much. My mom's son tried to add me to his family, after my siblings were adopted by friends of my mom, but I could not adjust to his German shorthair pointer, a very mellow boy who really was always nice to me. Now I am embarrassed by my bad behavior toward him, but at the time I was just too fearful of his 'giant' size! In my new future home, it would be best if any dogs were no bigger than cockapoo size. Even though I like the company of small dogs and cats, nothing is better than the company of people. I love the attention from the cattery volunteers, and I come running when treats are included.
