About Andrew

Andrew is a 6 pound male Teddy Bear (Bichon Frise/Shih Tzu) born 01/06/17. He came to us because he had a heart murmur which was later diagnosed as Tetralogy of Fallot. He takes a 1/4 of a Atenolol pill twice a day which cost less than $0.05 a dose and will need to see a cardiologist every 6 months (approx $500.00) to ensure the meds are correct. There is no way to determine what Andrew's live expectancy will be as we have been told by the cardiologist, 'it all depends on how well he responds to the medication.' She also stated that she has been treating another dog with the same diagnosis for over 6 years. Andrew needs to be in a home with very little activity as his activity needs to be limited, although he doesn't want it to be. Therefore, a home with no small children or young dogs is best for Andrew. He is UTD on all his shots including rabies, bordetella, microchip and flea/heartworm preventative. Andrew can never undergo surgery; therefore, can't be neutered. If you are interested in giving this sweet boy a home, please complete and return the attached application for consideration. Since we are 100% foster based rescue, only approved applications will be contacted to set up a meet and greet with the fur baby. We do not allow shipping and do not transport so you must be able to drive to Edwardsville/O'Fallon, Illinois area for meet and greet/adoption.
