Pet Bird

COURTESY POSTING - Meet Casey the red belly poicephalus. Casey is a bit timid, but not aggressive or overly afraid, just a bit timid in the cage. He does step up nicely and is happy to hang out with anyone. He is a friendly little guy. He is healthy and has been vetted and disease tested, he is ready to meet his new family!! A commitment to lifetime routine avian care is a requirement to adopt. While he is healthy today, she deserves a yearly checkup to ensure he lives a long happy life. Anyone interested in adopting, email Jen at [email protected]! For anyone new to AHW, here is a bit about our adoption process, so everyone understands we never ship a bird and adopters must commit to coming to the shelter to working with bird multiple times to ensure its a good fit for bird and adopter, we look for the bird to pick their person and want to go home with adopters! The Adoption Process:Fill out our online adoption application which can be found on our website, www.ahelpingwing.org (no phone calls please). A representative from A Helping Wing will be in touch to answer all questions and discuss setting up a first visit. Additionally, we will also review your information and discuss any questions we may have. There are multiple visits required to interact with the bird you connect with (typically 3-4). Your first visit is what I compare to speed dating, you will meet many wonderful and sweet birds and we see who you connect with, attention is paid for how birds respond, we base our adoptions on the birds input and tell all adopters that when we let the bird choose, its always a good match! During the visit time frame, we typically perform a home visit as well. The home visit is a great chance to review bringing home a rescue bird, where to setup cages, dangers in the home that many people may not consider, diet, daily routines, etc. You should expect 3 visits as long as it is a strong match and the bird is connected with you, but with new bird owners, there may be a 4th and typically the bird would go home at that visit.
