About Ollie

Adoption Fee: $1
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Ollie is a special case for us. We were participating in a German Shepherd rescue last year and he was deemed unadoptable so we kept him however it really isn't working out best for him. We will only adopt him out to someone we feel whole heartedly will be a perfect match. He came to the rescue about a year ago and has gone through quite a bit of socialization and behavioral training. With that being said, in his past he has bitten about 4 people so we are only adopting out to a knowledgeable and assertive person. He is okay with other dogs and even small animals but in the wrong hands he would absolutely attack small animals or possibly other dogs big or small. He is currently living at a home with 2 other dogs, 2 cats, 2 pot bellied pigs, horses and chickens and does flawlessly, but if we weren't paying 100% attention to him he would eat the cats and the chickens but he is respectful when we tell him no and has a fabulous recall when it counts. We are looking for an active individual who is looking for a badass dog. We are looking for someone who knows how to handle a dog like him with ease and doesn't need to be taught how to walk him or what signs to look for. We've had some people show up at our door thinking they know what they're doing and it doesn't end well for them. We would love someone who has working dog experience,as he is from Kraftwork breeding lines, or someone who is interested in IPO, agility, or athletic type sport. He will play ball for hours, he's kenneled trained however he will rebel when he wants out. He has destroyed cages and becomes Houdini to escape when he wants. He is house trained but will have the occasional accident if he gets distracted playing outside instead of going potty. Fence is preferred for adoption but he can jump 4ft fences with ease to escape so it isn't a requirement. A nice rural farm with no neighbors is the best solution for him cause he will chase your neighbors or anyone going for a walk/bike ride if you're not watching him. Once he meets your friends and neighbors he's good with them but if anyone would show up announced and come into your house, they're toast. I have never felt more safe in our home since having him because I know anyone that would try to break in, isn't getting out without some Ollie souvenir scars. All this being said, for the right person, Ollie is an outstanding dog. He has so much potential and loyalty. Never once have I felt like he was going to bite me. He has never even growled at me. We have absolutely no issues with him because we are assertive with him. I can take him into public and not be worried about him eating anyone. He really is a good boy. The only and I mean ONLY reason we're even considering adopting him out is because we have to much going on in our personal lives and not nearly enough time. We have started working longer hours and he's the only dog we can't bring to work with us, and we can't leave him unsupervised in the backyard like we can the other dogs for fear that someone may walk down the street. So it's not fair to him that a good portion of the day he's kenneled. If you think you may be a good fit please give me a call. We will ask for references and will not adopt out to anyone who lives further than an hour from blanchester,Ohio so we can do a home visit and keep in touch with him. DO NOT CONTACT ME IF YOU'RE A TRAINER LOOKING TO TAKE HIM TO RESELL! I want him going to a forever family home!
