About Charlie

Charlie is very cute but he is not the easiest of dogs so please only serious adopters who are strong pack leaders. Charlie will need someone who is consistent, patient and experienced with dogs. Charlie was impounded at a high kill shelter because his owner was incarcerated. He was in pretty bad shape, very thin and had a long matted and dirty coat. For whatever reason, his owner did not come back for him. We rescued Charlie and got him all cleaned up. Charlie is Maltese/Poodle 'Maltipoo' mix, about 4-5 years old, and weighs 9 pounds. He is good with most other dogs and has no reaction to cats. He tends to prefer female dogs over males and may do best as an only dog but that will depend on your experience and pack leadership ability. He is a shy with new people at first but once he gets to know you, he will follow you everywhere. He does have some separation anxiety and cries and barks a bit when left alone. So he would do best in a home where he is not left long hours. Charlie enjoys riding in the car and likes his walks. He is working on his potty training and is almost there. He does occasional 'marking' so he will need someone with patience. We will not place him in a home with young children. Charlie is very sweet and loving and enjoys cuddling in your lap.
