About Pookie

Pookie is a 13 year old Beagle. Almost impossible to find a home for a dog this old, but she won us over with her charm - and her sad story. Her owner died. Her owner's daughters didn't want their mother's old dog (we'd bet they took their deceased mother's inheritance though). So they dumped Pookie at shelter - with no hope of her finding a home. Po okie is easy to care for. She sleeps quietly in a dog bed in our family room. She is house trained. She likes to be close to her people, so she'd do best with someone who's around the house during the day. Pookie is getting along with the other dogs at our house. Pookie has adjusted very well into foster care. She has been fostered by a family with kids and did great in that environment as well. She absolutely loves and looks forward to a morning and evening walk and will ask/beg you to go. How can you say no to those eyes? She has so much love to give. Please consider opening your heart and home to this old gal. Pookie is heartworm negative and up to date on her shots. In conclusion, I may be a wise dog because of my age, but I still have the spunk and love for any home. Stop by and let me give you the 'puppy dog' eyes. Female Beagle DOB 1-1-04 PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready.
