About Nola

Nola is a spayed four year old schnauzer mix. She was rescued a year ago from a shelter in Louisiana. We know nothing about her background. Her foster mom believes she was mistreated because she was frightened of people when we first rescued her. She could only pet her about three times on the head before she would try and bite. She wouldn't allow her to bet her anywhere else. After many months of showing Nola what love is she will now jump in her foster mom's lap and want to be petted and held. She will also allow our groomer to give her a makeover. She will now let strangers pet her and asks for more love when they stop. Nola has come a long way in learning to trust but she still can get mad if her foster mom tries to make her do something she doesn't want to do, for example, get out of bed when she isn't ready or take a toy or bone from her. She will bite. Her new mom or dad will have to understand that she can't be forced to do things unless she wants to. They will need to learn her 'look' when she doesn't want to be bothered. She does responds well when bribed with treats. ?? Nola would not be good with any age child! She loves other animals but won't interact/play with them. She is crate and potty trained.
