About Petya

Domestic Cat
Age: Kitten
Sex: Male

Petya is a male, DSH Orange and White Kitten. DOB: 09/29/2016. Petya arrived in the foster's home on December 7, 2016. He was a feral kitten about 3-4 months old. He was saved from the Pinal County shelter where chances are good he would have been euthanized because he's a fearful kitty and not many people are willing to take a feral kitten into their home. RAIN Rescue did, though. Petya spent the first couple of weeks hiding whenever the humans were near. Then he spent the next few months resisting any attempts at affection by the humans. Finally another frightened foster kitty taught Petya how to beg for human food, and Petya's wall began to crumble. He started by meowing from a distance for the human plate or bowl once they were finished with it. Then he started patting the human on the arm to hurry them up. Then, most recently and very exciting, he started asking to be petted! Today Petya has made huge progress and likes to be petted and purrs and rolls over on the floor when receiving affection. He is great with other cats and kittens and has no problem with friendly dogs. He loves a tall cat tree and is often found snoozing on the very top. He loves to eat and is a clean boy. He has fun with cat toys and is easily entertained. He still has plenty of fear, so loud unfamiliar noises or unpredictable children are scary to him, but who knows where his growth will take him! He still has a ways to go to fully reach his potential, but he's a sweet boy and deserves a great, patient home. CAN YOU HELP US???? R.A.I.N. Rescue is desperately seeking foster homes for SMALL dogs, puppies, cats and kittens. We currently need volunteers for these Departments: Foster Homes, Transporters, Groomer, Adoption Center, Donation Station and Fundraisers. FOSTERING: We take in small dogs, puppies, cats and kittens to foster. The fosters DO NOT pay out of pocket for expenses while fostering ANY animals in our Rescue. The Rescue pays for everything necessary. We also accommodate for time away. *Some of our best fosters have been the winter visitors, who may only be able to take in dogs for 3-4 months. TRANSPORTERS: A person designated to take the dogs and cats for their vetting (spay/neuter etc.), grooming and sometimes to pick up and drop off at adoption events when the fosters are unable to bring them. Transporters may also pick up new strays/owner surrenders etc. and take them to their foster home. This position will pay mileage. FUNDRAISERS: Anything to help bring in funds to our non-profit Rescue. You will earn 10% of the money brought in to help the animals for each event! GROOMER: A skilled groomer, with their own grooming equipment, who can groom/bathe/clip nails on small dogs/puppies. We will supply the shampoo/towels etc. We will bring them to your location in the East Valley.
