If you've ever looked in the eyes of a puppy you would know what true joy and innocence looked like, and as a dog gets older that never really changes in them. A dog will always, to the core, be innocent, loving, and ever-forgiving. If you were to put two images side-by-side, one of a happy-go-lucky puppy with an overzealous excitement for being next to the image of this puppy that was found in Tijuana Mexico--your heart would truly break. When a Good Samaritan stumbled across this poor pup laying motionless, she placed some water down for her, but the poor girl was most likely suffering from extreme dehydration and possibly injured. Unfortunately Tijuana Mexico is home to hundreds of strays, some born feral, but many domestic pets who have been abandoned and abused. Many like this dog are as alone as can be, hungry and forced to sleep on pavement or dirt just to get a moments rest from the struggle of constantly moving. Luckily the kind hearted stranger went back and took the motionless pup to a Vet and our dear friend Kathy was able to transfer her to California the next day and immediately to the Specialty Veterinary Hospital. There we were able to find out that the poor girl had fractured hip that were approximately 2 weeks old. The immense pain this poor thing suffered for that long is unthinkable. Leilani was also extremely dehydrated and shivering, but despite all of the pain she was in, she remained super sweet. Leilani had her surgery with a top orthopedic specialist and has since recovered nicely. Leilani is 2year old, very lovable, playful, and is a complete cuddler.
