***Located in Land O'LAkes area*** If interested in adopting Minnie , please visit our website and apply online at www.ggarr.org.Minnie's story: Minnie is a 4 year old female Rottweiler who came to the rescue from Hernando County Animal Control. She was picked up as a stray in Springhill. On intake to the shelter she had very goopy eyes, was extremely underweight (only 48 pounds), infested with fleas and had some hair loss/skin issues. During evaluation by the rescue's veterinarian at Hays Towne Veterinary Hospital, Minnie was determined to have bilateral entropion. After this was corrected it was discovered that she had not been spayed, so she underwent an exploratory spay procedure. After recovering from this, her foster awoke one morning to find that Minnie had chewed a hole in her knee revealing a benign mass that required excision. Our poor Minnie was a hot mess! Today Minnie is a healthier dog. She weighs in at approximately 80 lbs. Her skin issues have resolved and her coat is healthy. Her eyes are much improved. She knows several basic commands (sit, stay, heal, wait - very important when leaving the house walks). She walks very well on a lead. She takes treats gently. Minnie has a great temperament towards people. She is good with adults and children. She CRAVES attention. She is dog selective, however. She has been introduced to several dogs and tends to do better with dogs her size or larger having dark coats and laid back temperaments after several slow introductions. Minnie is not recommended for homes with other pets. She would excel with a knowledgeable adopter that has strong, confident leadership with the breed.
